I'm mainly doing this so that people can use it as a resource for spotting new books that they might be interested in. ? "Black Elk Speaks" -- Black Elk, as told by John Neihardt. Excellent, beautifully-written book about the atrocities put forth by the white Americans as they moved westward into Native American territory. I'd highly recommend reading it in a quiet place, where you can focus on the true beauty of the words. The sentence structure alone is very moving. ? "Flashman in the Great Game" -- George MacDonald Fraser I haven't gotten the chance to pick this up in a while, but I was really into it before school got to busy. It's kind of like a more dirty version of James Bond, but starring a British man (a bit of a scumbag, really) in his late teens. Lots of sex. Very much between PG-13 and R. Probably closer to R. im a guy at the age of 16. I got to a prestigious school where your told you will achieve. My future is close but yet so far from my dreams. Like, i want to go to college, i want to start a family but i don't want to work a confined job in a cubicle or see sick patients then come home tired to the bone like my father. I want to be so much more, to help pay off my parents debts, help build my church a building that's permanent and move children. I really want to become a rapper,not a rapper who's mainstream pop , a rapper who speaks the truth, who presents God and troubles in a way that people can relate. Or even write a book and change people's perception of life and its obstacles.All of these seem achievable and a lot more appealing to me.Then coming home tired and waiting for retirement like you want your life to end. Maybe im just rambling but this is how i feel. How do you think i can see the benefits in those jobs? How do you think i can be motivated to keep going? (more...)

If God's whole ambition in humans is for them to love and believe in him, why does he make himself so hidden. A book written 2000 years ago just doesn't cut it to someone with any sense at all. Couldn't he just tell us he was real? Contrary to what many Christians say, atheists don't actively deny (desist) God, but passively, simply because we don't have any evidence of his existence. We don't want 100% proof, just something, anything that's reliable. I was a Christian for over 15 years, I use to think that I've talked to God, but I've matured since, and have come to realize that I "wanted" to hear his voice and that the same sensation isn't any different than what other people of different religions experience.
