Resolved Question: Does anyone know anything about the Sabertec Blade? Car experts only please!?
So I was reading Lucky magazine, and under their eco gadgets section they list the Sabertec Blade as an eco friendly tailpipe attachment that supposedly reduces air pollution and increases gas mileage. The website (www.bladeyourride.com) wasn't especially helpful, giving abundant information on the mechanics of an engine, and a catalytic converter, but zero information on the mechanics of the gadget itself. They claim that it 1. Filters particulates out of the exhaust, 2. Decreases the warm-up time for the catalytic converter (apparently by magic as they don't say how it actually does this) and 3. It "vacuums" the exhaust through the system and out of the car for greater combustion efficiency. My inclination is that it's a complete scam, and I would love to write a scathing letter to the editor for not doing her homework and subsequently leading women astray with yet another expensive fuel efficiency gadget that doesn't work. Trouble is I can't find any information whatsoever about the product that doesn't relate back to Sabertec's ad pitch. Can this thing possibly work? Please only serious responses from people who know cars (more...)
